Procedure of admission for bachelor’s degree program
1.    Kazakh-American University realizes educational training on following specialties:
5В050600 – Economics
5В050800 – Accounting and audit
5В050900 – Finance
5В030100 – Jurisprudence
5В020200 – International relations
5В020700 – Translation proficiency
5В050400 – Journalism
5В090200 – Tourism
5В071900 – Radio engineering, electronics and telecommunications
2. Admission to the corporation is carried out through state budgetary funding, state educational order for preparation of specialists (educational grants), personal funding and other sources.  
3. Individuals without citizenship, permanently living in Kazakhstan, as well as Kazakh people, who are citizens of other countries, can receive free higher education on a competitive basis within the framework of state educational order if education at each of these levels is received for the first time.
4. Citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan are granted the right to get free higher education on a competitive basis in accordance with the state educational order if a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan receives it for the first time, with the exception of education received in military and special educational institutions.
Right to receive free higher education on a competitive basis for foreign students within the framework of state education order is regulated by international agreements of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
5. The admission of students to KAU  is implemented on enrollee applications on the competitive basis by the results of the Unified National Test (UNT) or Comprehensive Test (CT), which are held in accordance with technologies, developed by National testing center of the MES of the RK (NTC). The admission of enrollee for specialties, which require special or creative training, is carried out with account of special or creative exams. The UNT is carried out for general secondary education graduates of current year.
Certificates are given to graduates on the results of UNT or CT, or external evaluation of training results on educational program of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School, an autonomous organization of education, being an experimental site, as well as to winners of international Olympiads and scientific project competitions (academic competitions) in compulsory subjects (awarded by Diplomas of the first, second and third degrees) of 2014, 2015, 2016 (hereinafter - winners of international Olympiads and competitions), the list of which is determined by the authorized body in the field of education.
Points of external evaluation of the results of graduates training on the educational program of "Nazarbayev Intellectual schools" autonomous organization of education are converted into the points of UNT certificate. Winners of international Olympiads and competitions are given the UNT certificates on the basis of conversion of final marks into points in accordance with the scale approved by the authorized body in the field of education.
Competition for obtaining an educational grant is conducted in accordance with the Educational Grant Awarding Rules to refund higher education and approved in accordance with subparagraph 5) of Article 4 of the "On Education" law of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
6. Comprehensive test is administered for former years graduates of secondary general education, graduates of technical and vocational (initial, secondary vocational, post-secondary) educational institutions, graduates of secondary schools, who have participated in international exchange programs, graduates of secondary schools who haven’t took part in UNT, graduates of school with non Kazakh, non Russian learning languages, graduates of state music boarding schools and individuals, who graduated from foreign educational institutions.
6-1. Repeated comprehensive  test is carried out with the purpose of admission to higher education on a fee basis for the participants of UNT and comprehensive test who could not get a threshold score, set out in paragraph 42 of this Regulation, participants whose results were annulled, as well as for those who did not participate in the UNT and comprehensive test.
6-2. Additional testing is carried out with the purpose of enrollment in higher education on a fee basis for conditionally admitted students  who could not get a threshold score on the results of the re-testing of comprehensive test.
7. The admission of individuals to higher educational institutions, graduated from technical and vocational, post-secondary (college) institutions is based on the result of Comprehensive test with a reduced duration of educational training if the profile of their previous education is similar to the one of their choice.
The list of related specialties is approved by an authorized body in an educational field.
The list of specialties with indication of compulsory and major disciplines of the Complex testing (CT) is approved by the authorized body in the field of education.
8. The admission of citizens with higher vocational (higher) education with a reduced duration of educational training on a fee-paying basis is realized by the Admission Committee of the corporation after passing the entrance exam in the form of interview. Additionally to the interview 2 creative exams must be passed for following specialty 5В050400-Journalism (except students with similar or relative previous education’s specialty).
9. The admission of foreign citizens on a basis of the allocated quota within the framework of state education order is realized by KAU independently.
The admission of foreign citizens to KAU on a fee-paying basis is carried out in the form of interview.  
The list of specialties with indication of compulsory and major disciplines of the Complex testing (CT) is approved by the authorized body in the field of education.
10. Admission quota at the rate, approved by the Government of the RK’s decision, is established to enroll to KAU.
The list of specialties of bachelor and higher educational programs, on which individuals, graduated from rural educational organizations have quotas, is approved by an authorized body in an educational field.
11. Documents submitted in foreign languages must be accompanied by a notarized translation into Kazakh or Russian languages.
         Documents, issued by foreign educational organizations, undergo process of nostrification in accordance with legislation order straight after admission, during the first semester. Documents are accepted according to Standard of the state service "Recognition and nostrification of educational documents (the decree of the Government of the RK of 31.08.12 #1119):
-  document confirming completion of appropriate education (must be legally certified) – original;
-  transcript (diploma supplement) with following information shown: taken academic disciplines with a number of hours, internships, final grades, course works and final projects, other components of study process  (must be legally certified) – original; 
- a notarized translation of certificate/diploma with supplement into state and/or Russian language. The translation must be notarized within the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan or by diplomatic service of the RK in a country, which issued the document;
In some cases (e.g. when establishing recognition on precedent) the translation made by the bodies of diplomatic service in Kazakhstan of the country, where the document was issued, can be shown;
- a notarized copy of the identity card/passport of educational documents’ owner with the translation into the state and/or Russian language;
- a copy of license and/or certificate of accreditation of the educational institute; except state established form documents of initial secondary, general secondary education, certified by the stamp of educational institution (with notarized translation into state and/or Russian language if necessary).
12. Admission to training in state educational order in certain specialties of higher education requires working with state secrets, implemented in schools with the national security agencies authorized in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan on state secrets.
13. Admission to training on specialties requiring special or creative preparation is carried out in the light of special or creative examinations. The list of specialties and procedure for special or creative examinations are established by section 17 (sub-paragraphs 17.1-17.17) of the Standards.
14. The applicants in the specialty requiring creative training, pass creative examinations conducted by admission committees of their chosen universities.
For the individuals enrolling on creative specialties accounted points in two subjects testing: state or Russian languages, history of Kazakhstan and two creative exams (drawing and sketching).
Marks for the History of Kazakhstan, language competence (the language of training) are taken into account for graduates of organizations of secondary (compulsory) education or graduates of educational organizations implementing educational programs of technical and professional (primary and vocational), post-secondary education who enter the creative specialties.
Points on profiling discipline are taken into account for applicants who enter to the creative specialties in related specialties for shortened educational programs with an accelerated period of study.
14-1. Creative examinations aimed at detecting the presence of creative abilities of enrollee and personal prerequisites for mastering the creative direction of the profession.
14-2. The applicants at the specialty requiring creative training, pass two creative exams.
14-3. Admission of  enrollee  applications to pass creative examinations carried out at the place of finding KAU - Admissions Office (1st floor, main academic building) from June 20 to July 7.
Creative examination is held from 8nd  to 13th of July.
Applicants applying for specialties requiring creative training, having documents on secondary education (secondary general education) or technical and vocational (primary and secondary vocational), after-secondary education take two creative exams.
Applicants applying for specialties that require creative training in related specialties for shortened educational programs with an accelerated term of study, take one creative exam.
Points on general and profiling disciplines are taken into account for applicants entering the related specialties for shortened educational programs with an accelerated period of study.
14-4. For the organization and conducting of special and / or creative examinations are organized subject commission, the list of commission members is approved by the Rector's order.
14-5. Schedule of specific and / or creative examinations (subject name, date, time and venue of the consultations, the date of announcement of the results) shall be approved by the chairman of admission committee and brought to the attention of applicants no later than the documents admission started.
15-6. Enrollee is allowed to enter into the auditorium of special and / or creative examinations upon showing of an identity document and the receipt of admission documents.
15-7. Before the start of a special and / or creative exam applicants issued exam material, and are explained the procedure applicable to the registration of title pages, and also indicates the start and end of special and / or creative exams, time and place of the announcement of the results and appeal.
15-8. During the special or creative examinations applicants comply with the following requirements:
1) to keep quiet and work alone, not to talk to examiners and other applicants;
2) not exchange examination materials, write off, bring into the auditorium and use textbooks, other methodical literature, mobile means of communication;
3) Do not walk in the auditorium, not to change seat;
4) not to leave the exam room without the permission of the examiner before the end of the special or creative exams.
14-9. Creative exams for applicants who have documents on secondary education (secondary general education) or technical and vocational (primary and secondary vocational), after-secondary education are assessed on a 40-point system.
A creative exam for applicants for related specialties on shortened educational programs with an accelerated term of study is assessed on a 20-point system.
14-10. Applicants who have received less than 15 points on the creative test (applicants who have documents on secondary education (secondary general education) or technical and vocational, after-secondary education) or less than 5 points (applicants entering the related specialties for shortened educational programs with an accelerated term of study) or who not attend the exam, on the complex testing (CT) to enter and participate in the competition for awarding an educational order (educational grant) on specialty are not allowed.
14-11. Compliance with the Rules during the special and / or creative exams provided by the executive secretary of the admission committee and his deputy, special duty, technical secretaries involved in the conduct of examinations.
14-12. Results of the creative examination transcripts are issued, a special examination - a statement of admission, the subject commission protocol in any form, and sent to the responsible secretary (his deputy) for the announcement of the results. Minutes of the subject commission are signed by the chairman and all the members of the commission.
14-13. The results of a special and / or creative exam posted on the day of the exam.
14-14. In order to ensure compliance and dispute resolution on the results of a special and / or creative examinations, protection of the rights of persons who give special or creative examinations, for the period of exams created Appeals Commission in each higher education institution.
Appeal commission created to review applications of persons who disagree with the results of special or creative exams. The Chairman and the list of the Appeals Commission shall be approved by order of the rector of the higher education institution.
14-15. The statement of appeal is written  to the chairman of the appeal committee  by a person who passed special or creative examination. Applications are accepted up to 13 hours of the next day after the announcement of the results of a special or creative examinations and considered the appeal commission within one day.
14-16. The decision on the appeal of disagreement with the results of special or creative exams taken by a majority vote of all members of the commission. In case of equality of votes the chairman of the commission shall be decisive. Work of  Appeals Commission issued  by a protocol which is signed by the chairman and all members of the commission.
14-17. Higher education institutions, regardless of ownership within five calendar days submit to the authorized body in the field of education the final report on the organization and conducting of special and / or creative examinations in any form, as well as copies of orders for delivery of special and / or creative examinations.
15. Comprehensive test is conducted on a ground of testing places (basic higher educational institutions), the list of which is approved by the order of an authorized body in an educational field.
16. Comprehensive test is held on a ground of basic higher institution apply for higher educational institutions,  the list of them is approved by the document of subordinated bodies in education sphere. Comprehensive test of individuals who are enrolled on creative specialization is organized in a basic higher educational institution which is attached to chosen by an individual higher educational institution. 
17. Applicants taking Comprehensive test submit to the Admission Committee of the university written request according to the established form; certificate/diploma of completion of general secondary education or diploma of completion of technical and vocational (initial, secondary vocational or post-secondary) education (original); test fee payment receipt, 2 photos of 3*4 size, medical certificate of health – form №086-U, photocopy of identity card.
Graduates of calendar year from the organizations of technical and professional, postsecondary education instead of the document on education, give the certificate of completion of training in current year,  given by education  organization in where he/she  studied with the indication of code and name of specialty.
17-1. To participate in the retaken comprehensive test an applicant shall submit to the Admission committee of university an application on a special form, a document of general secondary (secondary general) or technical and vocational (primary or secondary professional, post-secondary) education (original), test fee payment receipt, 2 photos of 3*4 size, medical certificate of health – form №086-U, photocopy of identity card and a certificate of UNT or complex testing (if any).
17-2. To participate in the additional complex testing provisionally enrolled student submits to the Admission committee of higher education institution a statement on a special form, test fee payment receipt.
18. Acceptance of applications for participation in Comprehensive test is conducted by admission committees of higher education institutions from 1 June to 20 June, to retake of comprehensive test - from 1 to 8 August, in a further comprehensive testing for conditionally admitted students - from 10 to 20 December.
19. Comprehensive test is held from 17 to 23 July, the retake comprehensive test - from 19 to 24 August, additional comprehensive test for conditionally admitted students - from 20 to 24 January.
20. It  takes 3 hours 50 minutes for passing unified national test and complex test.  It takes 1 hour 40 minutes for the applicants for related specialties for training that recognizes prior learning with an accelerated period of study.
21. Comprehensive test lasts 1 hours 30 minutes. Applicants are not allowed to retake the test. 
22. Codes of the correct answers are posted immediately after answer sheets scanning finished, which is held straight after testing.
23. Procedure of results processing is carried out on a basis of the higher educational institute, where the Comprehensive test took place. 
24. The results of the Comprehensive test are declared on the same day by the State Committee.
25. Certificates according to the established form with test results are issued for all participants of the Comprehensive test by the State Committee within 3 calendar days.  
26. Individuals who disagree with test results can make an appeal. Written request is send to the Appeal Committee, approved by the Chairman of the State Committee, before 1 p.m. of the next day after results were declared and is considered by the Appeal Committee.
27. Award of educational grants is carried out on a competitive basis on concrete specialties, language departments and forms of education according to UNT orKT results and  to the sequence of specialties , declared by the applicants with the certificate on award of an educational grant within the established state order.  The applications  for participation in the competition on awarding  educational grants at the expense of the republican budget are adopted from July 23 to July 31, at the expense of local budget from August 10 to August 15.
 Applicants who want to participate in the competition on educational grants allocation submit to Admission Committee of the university written request (application form) according to the established form; certificate/diploma of completion of general secondary education or diploma of completion of technical and vocational (initial, secondary vocational or post-secondary) education (original); the UNT or CT Certificate, 2 photos of 3*4 size, medical certificate of health – form №086-U, photocopy of identity card.
28. In application form for educational grant individuals indicate selected specialty and higher educational institution, which have educational grants on selected specialty. Applicant can indicate four specialties as long as profile subject for those is the same.
29. Individuals, who have preferential right for educational grant, submit to the Admission Committee required supporting documents.
30. Individuals with I and II group disabilities, disabled children, invalids since childhood submit medical conclusion of the expert commission on the absence of contraindications for study by chosen specialty. 
Established quota for several categories of individuals (orphans, children without parental support, I and II group invalids, individuals related on benefits to war participants and war invalids, invalids since childhood, disabled children, Kazakh people, who are citizens of other countries), who participate in educational grants awarding competition, is spread for all specialties.  
31. Applicants, who have chosen creative specialties, including “Altyn belgi” owners, participate in competition for educational grants for one specialty and indicate only the educational institution, where they had creative exams.
32. The minimum of 50 points is required for participation in the competition on awarding of educational grants, including not less than 7 points on the profile subject (not less than 10 points on every creative exam), and not less than 4 points on the other subjects.
   33. During the competition on receiving of educational grants in accordance with the score of the UNT or CT Certificate preferential treatment have:
1)   Students, awarded “Altyn belgi” ;
2)   winners of international Olympiads and scientific contests on general subjects (I, II, III degree certificates), winners of national and international competitions of performers and sport competitions (I, II, III degree certificates) of the last three years, winners of national Olympiads and scientific contests on general subjects (I, II, III degree certificates) of the current year, if chosen specialty is related to the subject of Olympiad, scientific contest, sport or other competition. The list of related subject is approved by the MSE.
34. Educational grants are awarded primarily to individuals,who have preferential right for entering the higher educational organization according to paragraph 37.
Then educational grants are awarded on a competitive basis by specialties, language and forms of education in accordance with the points indicated in the UNT or CT Certificate according to the preferred specialty indicated by the applicant.  
35. Vacant positions on one of the language departments are transferred for awarding on a competitive basis inside specialty.
Vacant positions remaining after competitive awarding of state educational grants are redistributed inside training directions for specialties among enrollees with high pass marks independently of the claimed form of training and language.
36. In case of equal scores of the UNT or CT Certificates orphans, children without parental support; I and II group invalids; individuals related on benefits to war participants and war invalids; invalids since childhood; disabled children, who according to medical conclusion of the expert commission have no contraindications for study; individuals, who have certificates/diplomas with honors; then individuals, who have the highest grade point average of certificate or diploma have preferential right for awarding of state educational grants and also for getting free state education through budgetary financing.
Competition for specialties with quota for rural youngsters is held the following way: 70% of grants from the total number of all are awarded in a basis of general competition, and the rest 30% of grants are allocated between rural youngsters.
An authorized body in the educational sphere give state Certificates to individuals who received stateeducational grants.
The list of Certificate holders is published in mass media.
The State Committee informs individuals, who became holders of state educational grants about necessity of receiving of Certificates. Educational grant’s Certificatesalong with documents, submitted to the AdmissionCommittee of the corporation have to be issued to ownersuntil August, 15.  
37. Upon a decision of the competitive commission of local executive bodies, an appropriate order is issued and certificates for awarding an educational grant at the expense of local budget get officially registered.
The lists of holders of educational grant at the expense of local budget are published in regional mass media.
Admission Committee awards Certificates for awarding an educational grant at the expense of local budget together with the documents for participation in the contest to the applicants not later than August 25.
Individuals with educational grant certificates, submit application form to the higher educational institution, indicated in the certificate and are admitted by the order of the Head of the institution.
38. Holders of educational grant certificates on creative specialties are admitted to academy, if they pass creative exams to university.
       39. In the case of holder's refusal from educational grant at the expense of local budget, the certificate of awarding an educational grant is canceled; the educational grant is awarded on a competitive basis in accordance with the procedures established by the Rules within thirty calendar days from the date of enrollment.
40. In the case of non-return of the certificate of awarding an educational grant at the expense of local budget, Admission Committee of  KAU makes an act of its cancellation specifying date and person’s data who refused from the educational grant and gives the act of cancellation with the seal of higher educational institution to local executive bodies within thirty calendar days from the date of enrollment.
         41. Enrollment in the list of students is carried out by a admission committee of KAU from 10 to 28 August.
Applicants submit to the Admission Committee of the academy application form with certificate/diploma of completion of general secondary education or diploma of completion of technical and vocational (initial, secondary vocational or post-secondary) education (original); test fee payment receipt, 6 photos of 3*4 size, medical certificate of health – form №086-U, educational grant certificate (if available), photocopy of identity card.
Individuals having documents on formation of educational organizations that implement education programs of technical and vocational, post-secondary education, skills and having confirmed professional experience of at least one year, in addition hand over one of the following documents:
1) work record book;
2) record (the list of information about the work of  labor activity of the employee), signed by the employer, duly stamped (if any);
3) archival certificate containing information about the employee's performance.
Individuals applying for conditional admission, attach to the application documents on general secondary (secondary general) or technical and vocational (primary or vocational secondary, post-secondary) education (original) to theAdmission committee of higher education institution , 6 photographs in the size 3x4, medical certificate form 086- U, the certificate of retake comprehensive test.
42. On a fee-paying basis are enrolled graduates of educational organizations that implement educational programs of general secondary (secondary general) education or technical and vocational (primary and secondary vocational), post-secondary education, who have passed UNT or CT, who have scored at least 5 points on history of Kazakhstan, mathematical literacy, reading literacy is the language of training, and not less than 5 points for each core subject, with the exception of applicants for specialties requiring passing  creative examinations.
On a fee-paying basis are enrolled graduates of educational organizations that implement educational programs for technical and vocational and post-secondary education who apply for  related specialties on shortened educational programs with accelerated term of study who have passed CT and scored at least 35 points, including at least 5 points on general discipline and at least 5 points on core discipline, except of those who apply for specialties, that requires taking creative Examinations.
On a fee-paying basis on specialties that require taking creative examinations, graduates of organizations of general secondary (secondary general) education or graduates of educational organizations who implement educational programs of technical and vocational (primary and secondary professional), post-secondary education, passed UNT or CT, having results at least 50 points on testing and creative exam including at least 5 points - on History of Kazakhstan, reading literacy - language of training, and at least 15 points for each creative exam (for applicants who apply for related specialties for reduced educational programs with accelerated period of training - at least 35 points, including at least 5 points on creative examination and at least 5 points on core discipline ).
Individualss who have documents on general secondary (secondary general) or technical and vocational (primary or secondary professional, post-secondary) education, and scored the threshold score on the results of retake comprehensive test, conditionally credited on a fee basis and are enrolled in students’ list, to completion of the first academic period for full-time education.
Individuals conditionally enrolled students who have received the specified threshold score on the results of additional comprehensive test, fill in an application addressed to the head of the higher education institution about enrollment in higher education on a fee basis. Attached to the application of additional comprehensive test certificate and a copy of the transcript, signed by an authorized person and sealed.
         43. Admission is carried out on specialties and language of the instruction separately.
                Admission to creative specialties is held in accordance with creative exams scores.
44. For applicants with high scores by the results of UNT or comprehensive test, as well as for students from low-income families the University organises competition on educational grants «Scholarships».
"Scholarships" grant holders with the results of the first examination session assessment only "excellent", continue training under grant according to the Regulations on the procedure for the award of the special grant of the University "Scholarships". Otherwise, the students pay for their education in full. i.e. the first semester of the first course.
