The “Scholarships”

1) Special scholarship (hereinafter referred to as special scholarship) is awarded to the most talented candidates for the Master’s degree, students studying at KAU on a fee paying basis but not able to pay for the education by force of various circumstances (financial situation in the family, health condition, money problems, etc.).

  2) Special scholarship may be awarded to the extent as follows:

 ·         for the Master’s degree/Bachelor’s degree/college students – not exceeding 15% of the total number of students of every faculty (specialization) studying on a fee paying basis, of whom: up to 3% can be awarded 100% scholarship, up to 6% – 50% scholarship, up to 6% – 25% scholarship;

 ·         for the students of the School affiliated with KAU (5-11 classes), as well as part-time students – not exceeding 10% of the total number of students of the faculty (college), of whom: up to 2% can be awarded 100% scholarship, up to 4% – 50% scholarship and up to 4% – 25% scholarship.

 3) “Scholarships” shall be awarded to: the students of the full-time study mode – for one academic semester; students of the School affiliated with KAU – for a half-year period; part-time students – for one academic year.

 4) The full-time students may be awarded special scholarship no more than twice in succession. Special scholarship shall not be awarded twice in succession to the students of the part-time mode.

 5) Indispensable and required conditions for the 100% special scholarship awarding are: excellent performance according to the results of the last examination session (grades of at least “A-”); participation in educational, scientific and research activities (presentation of reports at the conferences, preparing publications, etc.) as well as social life of the university; promotion of the institution’s achievements and maintenance of the good reputation of KAU; merited authority among the students and teachers.

 6) 50% special scholarship may be awarded upon the same criteria as for the 100% scholarship, but only to those students who generally have one “B” grade following the results of the last examinations.

 7) 25% special scholarship may be awarded upon the same criteria as for the 100% and 50% scholarships, but only to those students who generally have two “B” grades following the results of the last examinations.

  8) 100%, 50% and 25% special scholarships may be awarded in advance for the first academic semester to the 1st year students (academic year of study) of the Master’s program/Bachelor’s program/college studying full-time, School affiliated with KAU (5-11 classes), who have earned high grades according to the results of the unified national, comprehensive and admission testing. Provided that 100% scholarship will be proved by the excellent performance during the first examination session (grades “A” and “A-”), 50% scholarship – by the performance with no more than one “B” grade, and 25% scholarship, respectively, by the performance with no more than two “B” grades, special scholarship for the past first academic semester (first half-year) shall remain. Otherwise the student will have to refund full amount of the tuition fee for the past semester (half-year).

  9) Contenders for the special scholarship award shall file an application on a special form in the name of the President of KAU within the terms set subject to the Control activities schedule, specifying the reasons for the financial difficulties. The application must be accompanied with appropriate documents the minimum list of which is indicated in the special form. Apart from the criteria specified in Cl.5 of this Provision, the grounds for the special scholarship award to the part-time mode students shall be lack of permanent or temporary work (evidences are required in the form of statements of the local social security authorities and employment office) or disability, long-term incapacity to work, etc.

 10) The students’ applications shall be examined by the competition committee with the President of KAU ahead.

 11) Resolution of the competition committee shall become effective after the President signs the order on awards.

 12) The deans of the faculties and directors (of colleges, School affiliated with KAU) shall within two days inform the students against the signature about the competition committee’s resolution.

 13) The students who have not passed the competition for the special scholarship award shall be set a term to pay for the education – within ten days from the date of the competition committee meeting.

 14) Source for the special scholarships financing shall be the money of the IEC received from the financial and business activities.
