Undergraduate studies

he undergratuate degree (the maximum basic formation — 4 years) is a basic step of university higher education. The basic purposes of preparation of a bachelor:
Satisfaction of educational needs of the person;
Maintenance of a society with the qualified experts;
Education of the developed person, capable to continue training at the next step of higher education.

Preparation of bachelors is conducted on specialities and specializations, according to the qualification of the specialities, approved by the Ministry of Education and sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The right of training under the program of a bachelor degree:
The average general education;
Average special (professional) formation;
KAU enrolles are accepted on the results of national testing in accordance to the rules of acceptance defined by the Ministry of Science and education of the RK.

Kau offers the following three categories of training:
Category "A": in the 1–3 courses, training is conducted in English according to the Kazakhstani curriculums including the American Universities’ programs. In the 4’th year student leaves for training in the foreign high school and after its termination he/she gets the diploma of foreign sample. Getting back home he/she retakes the subject differences at KAU (in there is any), and gets the second diploma of the state sample and bachelor degree.
Category "B": is stipulated for the students who wish to get education of the international standard in English, but have no opportunities to pay the last year of studies in the USA. The student gets 4 years of training universal program and receives two diplomas of КАУ: the state and international ones.
Category "C": provides four year of studies at KAU with mixed (Russian and English) language of training the increase of teaching share is
-English up to 30% and Russian up to 70% in the first year of studies;
-English up to 50% and Russian up to 50% in the second year of studies;
-English up to 70% and Russian up to 30% in the third year of studies.
In the fourth year of studies all subjects should be conducted just in English, which helps to improve the student’s knowledge of English in professional sphere.
Curricula and programs of the bachelor degree are developed on the basis of the three cycles of subjects: general educational, basic, profiling.
Training of a category " C * " enables the student to improve the knowledge of English language in professional sphere.

Curricula and programs of preparation of the bachelor are developed on the basis of typical curricula and include three cycles of subjects:
Cycle of general educational subjects;
Cycle of basic subjects;
Cycle of profiling subjects.

Curricula for students of categories "A" and "B", in its turn, includes elements of programs of USA universities-partners.
In a final semester of bachelor degree students have to take final state exams and defense of diploma work.
The diploma work is the result of independent work of student under the leadership of a supervisor.

The state certifying commission checks the diploma defense of undergraduate students. Students that have completely executed the requirements of the educational program curriculum, that successfully passed the state finals and have defended the diploma works get the speciality and are awarded the bachelor degree.

The university graduate must be:
- a highly educated person possessing knowledge of bachelor degree program
- able to use his/her knowledge in the sphere of speciality;
- able to hold scientific research;
- able to use computer facilities.
